The Windle Brook (a stream) passes through the village. This is the present bridge where Bridge Road passes over the stream. Before the bypass road was built all the traffic on the main London - West Country road passed over here.

When the photo was taken the stream bed was rather clogged with water weeds!

Compare the present bridge with the one in the lower photograph, which was taken about 100 years ago.

In addition to the bridge there is also a ford with stepping stones in the foreground.  Why anyone would use the stepping stones rather that the bridge I have no idea.

A low concrete bridge spanning a weed-filled stream.
An old three arch brick bridge crossing a stream with a ford in front of it.
