Plessey Addlestone Reunion
Reunions for all staff who ever worked for Plessey at Addlestone, Weybridge, Surrey, UK, have been held about every two years.
Our last reunion was in April 2024 when 120 former employees met at the Ship Hotel, Weybridge.
It is amazing that 35 years after the company was taken over in a hostile bid, and over a quarter of a century since the site was closed, former employees meet with such enthusiasm to reminisce and to catch up with what their friends and colleagues have been doing since.
The switch to afternoon
last time was welcomed by the
increasing number of us who are reluctant to drive at night. The
downside is that a few are unable to attand due to business commitments.
Our next reunion is on Friday 24 April 2026 from 2:30 to 5:30 pm
The venue is again the
Ship Hotel, Weybridge
Please use the entrance on the right hand side of the building (not via the hotel and public bar entrance).
There will be a small charge on the door to cover the hire of the facility (please bring a £5 note). Any 'profit' made will be donated to a local charity. We will not be providing snacks. The bar will be open.
Transport options:
The Ship Hotel (postcode KT13 8BQ) has a private car park (entrance on the right of the hotel). Parking is free for participants of the reunion during our event, but is chargeable at other times, including if you are staying overnight.
There is a large public car park in Churchfield Road off the High Street and another medium size one off Baker Street. There is a small one at the bottom of Monument Hill (opposite the hotel). All are pay-and-display.
There is no sensible on-street parking.
Weybridge is served by several bus routes. The stop you need is "The Ship Hotel". In one direction it is almost outside the hotel, on the other side it is about 100yds along the High Street.
Weybridge railway station is about a mile out of town. Two bus routes connect it to the town centre. On exiting the station (on either side) walk up the slope to the main road. Turn right then cross the entrance of the down-line car park. The bus stop is a few yards ahead. Both bus routes (Falcon Coaches 436 and 515) use this stop but then take different routes into Weybridge for the Ship Hotel. The 436 runs approx every half hour and the 515 approx hourly.
From Addlestone railway station take the Falcon Coaches 461. This service runs approx every half hour.
