Richard Warne (c1793 - 1870) and his descendants

Various spelling are found in the records, even for the same person.  They include Warne, Warnes and Warns.

Richard was the eldest of his parents' ten children. As was common practice they had names their first two children after themselves. His parents were Richard Warns (born abt 1775 in Morningthorpe, Norfolk) and Patience Mann (born abt 1764 in Morningthorpe and died in 1837). They had married in 1792.

Richard was baptised in August 1793 in Wymondham, Norfolk. No definitive record of his birth date has been found but it is likely to have been that year.

On 1 November 1819 he married Sarah Gook (born abt 1796 in Tasburgh, Norfolk, died 1880) in Tasburgh's church.

He was principally a cordwainer (shoemaker) but had also served in the army and drew a pension from Chelsea.and was for 25 year Tasborough's Parish Clerk

According to the grave stone to him and his wife in Tasbourgh church yard he he 'departed this life December 14 1870 age 77 years'.

Richard ansd Sarah had seven children.
