Bagshot Events Calendar
About the Events Calendar
The Bagshot Events Calendar is provided as a service to Bagshot community organisations to
- facilitate event planning.
- promote events.
Organisers are invited to review the planning calendar to select dates that do not clash with other events, and then to add their event to the calendar. They can do this simply by entering the information on the submissions page. Authenticity is validated by the use of a password. To facilitate planning, dates can be added as "provisional" prior to ratification by your management committee.
The calendar is intended for major events such as fetes, bazaars, concerts and jumble sales for which hundreds of people are expected to attend. It is not intended for a society's regular meetings.
In addition to helping organisers plan their events, the public version of the calendar provides publicity and promotion for events once their details have been established.
Organisers please note: to see all planned events you need to join the scheme and get access to the planning calendar which will include details of provisional or proposed events. In general the public promotional calendar contains a subset of the events in the planning calendar.
New Users - Getting Started
The secretary, or other appropriate officer, within an organisation is asked to contact Neil Bartlett to obtain a user account and password. Use of the password will validate the bona fide of the submissions made using it and streamline the up-dating of the calendar. When asking for a password, please use the message pad below and
- put your name and email address in the relevant boxes (even if someone else will be managing events for you) and indicate your position within the organisation
-
within the message area give me
- the name of the organisation as it should appear in event details
-
the name and email address of a contact person within the organisation who
will be able to validate events submitted (this need not be you, and it need
not necessarily be the person who will use the password, though that would
be the most obvious choice).
As a precaution against improper additions to the calendar, a copy of each submission made using your password will be emailed to your nominated contact. Their role is to confirm that the submission is legitimate. If all is OK then they do not need to do anything. If it is wrong then they must tell me in order that the incorrect details can be removed and, if appropriate, a new password established.
A cautionary notes about passwords:
-
Passwords on this facility are not very secure:
- That is one reason why submissions will be echoed back to a known member of your organisation.
- Do not use the password I give you for anything else.
- Though echoing your organisation name when you enter a password may appear to validate the password, it does not. A few characters in the password are used to identify the organisation. If the submitted password does not match one that I have issued then I will wait until the contact person confirms the event before it is added to the calendar.
